Vår lilla stad (Our Town) by Thornton Wilder was first performed in Princeton, New Jersey in January 1938. It was a precursor for a new kind of theater, influenced by Greek drama with a Chorus (here called the Stage Manager). The stage is essentially bare and only two ladders going up to the second floor represent the two houses of the Gibbs and Webb families. It was translated by Anders Österling (Swedish Academy) and directed by Gösta Folke, scenography by Härje Ekman. It premiered in April 1948 on the small stage (Intiman).
